The Patek Philippe watch lost at Phu Quoc International Airport <\/span><\/a>in late December 2022 has just been returned to its owner by Kien Giang Police.<\/p>\n

On the morning of June 17, at the headquarters of Phu Quoc City Police (Kien Giang), Kien Giang Provincial Police handed over the Patek Philippe watch (worth 11,174 USD or about 278 million VND) lost at Phu Quoc airport to Mr. Mac Chi Cong (Ms. Thao’s brother and the person authorized to receive the watch).<\/p>\n

Kien Giang Provincial Police said that after a period of actively implementing verification and searching, local authorities received the Patek Philippe watch that Ms. Thao reported as lost at Phu Quoc airport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Because Ms. Thao is abroad, she authorized Mr. Mac Chi Cong (Ms. Thao’s biological brother) to go to the police station to complete the procedures to receive the lost property.<\/p>\n

Mr. Cong said that the Patek Philippe wristwatch (rectangular dial, light brown background, silver metal strap, used) handed over by the police today is indeed the watch Ms. Thao lost at Phu Quoc airport.<\/p>\n

“Our family would like to thank the leaders of Kien Giang Provincial Police for directing the professional units of Phu Quoc City Police, Phu Quoc City authorities, and Phu Quoc International Airport to verify and find the above watch,” Mr. Cong added.<\/p>\n

At 9:30 a.m. on December 25, 2022, Ms. Thao and her husband took flight VN6526\/18D from Phu Quoc to Ho Chi Minh City. She then put her personal belongings and carry-on luggage in a tray and went through the security screening area at Phu Quoc airport.<\/p>\n

After completing the security check, Ms. Thao went inside the area preparing to exit the plane. Discovering that her watch was missing, she returned to the security check point and reported it to the airport staff.<\/p>\n

On the afternoon of June 17, information from Kien Giang Provincial Police said that while passing through the security screening area of \u200b\u200bPhu Quoc International Airport, Ms. Mac Thanh Thao and her husband put their personal belongings and 3 watches in their handbag (including a Patek Philippe watch worth 278 million VND).<\/p>\n

Because the zipper of the handbag may not have been pulled up, when passing through the roller of the security screening machine, Ms. Thao’s handbag fell, the Patek Philippe watch fell out and got stuck in the conveyor. However, Ms. Thao’s family did not know.<\/p>\n

Upon hearing that Ms. Thao had reported the loss of the watch, Kien Giang Provincial Police coordinated with many related units to check and verify. At the same time, after viewing the camera at the security area of \u200b\u200bPhu Quoc Airport, local authorities tried to contact a passenger on the same flight to persuade her to return the watch to Ms. Thao.<\/p>\n
