Building An Aviation Logistics Center Attached to Long Thanh Airport

Long Thanh International Airport was researched, projected since the 1980s, with the goal of replacing Tan Son Nhat Airport (SGN) located in the Ho Chi Minh inner city and becoming an international air transit center.

Recently, the Vietnam Ministry of Transport (MOT) has issued a plan to develop transportation in a modern and synchronous direction, orienting the development of an Aviation Logistics Center associated with Long Thanh Airport, helping to reduce costs and ensure National Defense and Security in the Southeast region.

Synchronous Construction of the National Logistics system

The Vietnam Ministry of Transport has just issued a plan to develop transportation in the Southeast region (including 6 provinces and cities: Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh) until 2030, with a vision to 2045.

In this plan, the Ministry emphasizes the synchronous development of the National Logistics system, associated with seaports, airports, international border gates, key economic corridors and inter-regional trade routes of Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Nhon Trach (Dong Nai) – Phu My Town (Ba Ria – Vung Tau) – Tay Ninh – Binh Phuoc.

• Invest in and build an Aviation Logistics Center connected to Long Thanh International Airport
• Port Logistics System in Ba Ria – Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City
• Special focus on developing Cai Mep – Thi Vai port
• In the plan, the Ministry also has specific instructions on:
• Innovation, development of transport service technology, loading and unloading, multimodal transport
• Encouraging increased investment in railway and inland waterway container vehicles
• Modernizing means of transport, ensuring safety, protecting the environment
• Promoting the application of information technology in the management and operation of transport activities, applying new technologies such as: automation, artificial intelligence (AI), IOT, …
• Synchronously deploying solutions to ensure traffic safety, improve understanding and increase awareness of law compliance
• Promoting the connection of transport activities of provinces and cities in the Southeast region to create the best conditions for transporting and circulating goods, supplies, and raw materials for production
• Having strict control measures, starting and ending points in the supply chain, circulation transporting goods, transporting passengers, ensuring order, national defense, security
• Promoting the implementation of signed international transport agreements and treaties, enhancing cross-border connectivity.
